Hi! My name is Mr. Clements, but you can call me Mr. C.
I have been given the great opportunity to be your 4th grade teacher this year! I have to say, I am very eager and excited to get to know you better and work with you to make this year incredible and AWESOME! I am originally from Midland, Michigan - which is about two hours north of Okemos. I grew up with my mom, dad, and two older brothers. Family is very important to me! |
I have two of the best parents anybody could ask for! They have always supported me and encouraged me to do my best.
My mom is a retired clinical social worker. That means that she helped people try to figure out good solutions when they have challenges in their lives. My dad is retired from Consumers Energy. He worked there for 41 years! He helped turn coal (a natural resource) into energy - energy that you and I use can use to turn on a light or power up an Xbox! |
My two older brothers' names are Chris and Nick!
Nick works for Wysong, a company that makes really healthy food for animals and people. He is their iT guy, so he is incharge of all the computer stuff. Chris is my oldest brother. He was born with microcephaly, which means his brain is a little smaller than yours or mine, so his body works a little bit differently. He uses a wheelchair to get around and can't talk like you or me, but he loves to smile, laugh, and he loves listening to music! |
I attended Michigan State University and majored in Elementary Education with teaching specializations in Language Arts and Math. Going to MSU was an amazing experience! I cheered on the Spartans at football games, made a ton of new friends, and worked really hard to learn as much as I could to prepare myself to be the best teacher I could be. Everyday at MSU reaffirmed that even though teaching can be challenging work, it is the most rewarding and I can't imagine doing anything else. Go GREEN!
After graduating, I continued my studies at MSU and completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum in 2017. |
As part of my masters program, I had the opportunity to study abroad in South Africa for a summer semester! It was an incredible six week experience that included climbing Table Mountain, swimming in the ocean, and even going on a safari!
Yet, the best part was getting to teach and learn with an awesome group of students at Turfhall Primary School! I learned how important it is learn to understand each other, find similarities, and celebrate our differences. |
In 2018, I received the OEF Commitment to Excellence Award.
The Okemos Education Foundation works to recognize excellence and promotie innovation in Okemos Public Schools. Every year they honor educators who "inspire and motivate students, promote the welfare of students, implement innovative/creative ideas, and provide leadership within the school community." This was an overwhelming honor and one that I continually work to live up to every day in the classroom. To celebrate this great accomplishment, I attended a ceremony at the Kellogg Center. |
