What can we discover from new places and people?
Discovering new places and people can teach us many things. We can learn about diversity, new opportunities, areas to travel and explore, different regions, and what makes each of them unique. Diversity occurs when a group of different people unite. Diversity introduces similarities and distinctions between people. It can also teach us a variety of things, such as how to understand and appreciate different social groups. Discovering new places also brings new opportunities. Many of our ancestors traveled across the United States seeking new opportunities. While some were looking for fortune, others just wanted to improve their lives. And a few simply wanted to have the experience of traveling across the country. Today, we can still learn a lot by traveling coast-to-coast. The United States has magnificent places to see and explore. We can see different landscapes and landmarks. One big landmark is the Grand Canyon. It’s enormous! One landscape to see in the United States is the desert. It covers parts of the Southwest and is very hot and dry. Since it doesn’t rain often, plants such as cacti, and animals such as snakes and lizards, have adapted by needing very little water. Another place where many animals live is Yosemite National Park. It, too, is located in the West. Yosemite is home to a lot of wildlife and some of the largest landforms and plants in the West. Sequoias are tall trees that reach over 300 feet tall.
