How can we work together to achieve a goal?
"By being part of a team, like a soccer or baseball team." That's definitely one way. Sports teams work together to meet their goals. People cooperate to meet goals in other ways as well. Sometimes neighbors are responsible for a community garden. They may divide sections of the gardens and assign each person to take care of a portion of it. People usually work together to organize a party too. They begin by planning the party. Then they divide the work involved, such as buying groceries and cleaning the house. Finally, they invite their friends, neighbors, and family. It isn't always easy to convince people to work together. Sometimes it takes some effort, especially if people disagree about what should be done. "I was thinking we should make cookies instead." "Well, how about this. Why don't we make cupcakes and then everyone can have their own." But when people work together to meet a goal, they can conquer just about anything and have fun trying.
This week you will learn that with cooperation, sharing, and effort, people can work together to achieve goals.

Draw ConclusionsDrawing a conclusions based on what you already know and the facts and details in a text.
A reader will draw a conclusion when they form an opinion based on what they already know along with the facts and details in a text. Readers use their background knowledge on a topic to think of things they already know about the topic. Then they can use the specific facts and details of the text to help them determine an important idea about what they are reading. Often times the text doesn't directly tell the reader this important idea, so it is up to the reader to draw the conclusion. This can help readers get more ideas from what you read. A reader can check an author’s conclusions or their own conclusions by asking "is it accurate?" |
