Pencils
$1.00 - $5.00 This will probably be the most important learning tool we use all year! A pencil is a pretty simple thing, but very powerful all the same. Make sure you are well stocked. In a classroom, pencils seem to have a habit of going missing from time to time, so it might be a good idea to label your pencils with a sharpie or mark it in some other easily identifiable way. |

Erasers
$0.50 - $3.00 You wouldn't be learning if you didn't make a few mistakes along the way. So make sure you have some erasers to help you out. Pencil toppers can also come in handy during the year so you may want to get a few of those too. There are also a lot of fun looking erasers out there - but these can quickly become a distraction in the classroom. Use your best judgement. |

Markers (available as a classroom community supply)
$1.00 - $4.00 Many of the learning activities and projects you will do this year will require color. Markers are a great way to add color to a project. Washable markers are preferred as they are very easy to clean off desks. Here is a handy tip - when you have finished using your markers, make sure you hear a "click" - that way you know that it is closed and they won't dry out. |

Crayons (available as a classroom community supply)
$0.50 - $2.00 There are many options for crayons available in the stores. Some of the boxes are very large containing upwards of 120 crayons! Unfortunately, there really just isn't space in your desk for a box of crayons this big. A small box of 24 crayons will do just fine. If you have crayons from last year that are still in good shape, save some money and just bring those! |

Colored Pencils (available as a classroom community supply)
$1.00 - $4.00 Different tasks require different coloring mediums. Just like markers and crayons, colored pencils will be very useful this year. Colored pencils tend to clog up our classroom electric pencil sharpener, so you might also want to bring a personal pencil sharpener - but make sure it is one with a container to catch the pencil shavings... otherwise it can be a big mess. |

Dry Erase Markers
$1.00 - $5.00 You will be using your individual whiteboard a lot this year so make sure you have a few good dry erase markers. A 4-pack should certainly last you for the entire year. They can be thick or thin, but please make sure you buy all black markers. Many students find that using a darker thicker marker is not only easier to write with, but shows up better and is easier to read. |

Highlighters (available as a classroom community supply)
$1.00 - $5.00 As you enter 4th grade, you will begin to learn how to read non-fiction text more closely and for research purposes. A great technique and skill to help you with this is learning how to highlight. However, you will need some highlighters first! Yellow is preferred by many students, but any light color can help you accomplish the task. |

Black Pens (available as a classroom community supply)
$0.50 - $2.00 Whether writing a letter or a thank you note, when you hand write your final draft, you will be writing them in black ink. Sometimes it is nice to also have a few colored pens - blue, green, and red are standard colors that can be easily found in stores. Bright neon colored gel pens are fun to use for doodling, but are way too hard to read. Please keep these kinds at home. |

Glue Sticks (available as a classroom community supply)
$0.50 - $2.00 Glue sticks are used in a wide variety of projects. You will find that you go through them quickly, so make sure you stock up on them while they are on sale and keep them at your house for when you need more at school. Many students find the "disappearing purple" type of glue very easy to work with and helpful. The best part about it is that it dries nice and clear! |

Scissors (available as a classroom community supply)
$1.00 - $4.00 Your own pair of scissors will be very useful this year. Small school sized scissors are preferred as the larger adult sized take up more space. Pointed are fine for 4th grade as long as you understand and respect scissors as a tool and not something that is played with. Make sure you label them! That way you will be able to tell your pair from your neighbor's. |

Pencil Pouch
$1.00 - $4.00 You will have many different learning spaces this year and without a system to stay organized, small things still have a tendency to lost. So, to help you stay organized, it is a really good idea to have a small pencil pouch. This will hold all your pencils, pens, highlighters, dry erase markers, etc. and it will make it much easier to quickly find your writing supplies. |

$0.50 - $2.00 Being organized is an important skill to have and helps you to be successful. This year you will need six two-pocket folders - one red, one blue, one yellow, one green, and one of your choice. Each folder will correspond to a subject and you will keep all of your notes, worksheets, and homework for that subject in that folder. Remember, staying organized is key to success. |

1-Subject Spiral Notebooks (x1)
$0.50 - $5.00 Along with your folders, you will need four 1-subject spiral notebooks - any color. The specific colors seems arbitrary, but many students have found that having colors that correspond to the specific subjects really helps them keep their desk and papers organized. Also we often refer to notebooks by their color. Please, don't label them yet - we'll do this in class. |

3-Ring Binder (1 inch)
$3.00 - $12.00 This year we will spend time reflecting on our learning and record these thoughts in our Student Portfolios. These portfolios will also help us track our progress towards our learning goals throughout the year! Many students have found it helpful to have their own 3-ring binder so that at the end of the year they can simply take the whole binder home. |

$1.00 - $20.00 We will be using our new personal Chromebook laptops regularly in class a lot this year! Some of these computer and online activities produce a lot of sound. In order to work individually on these activities and not interfere with your neighbor's work, you will need to wear headphones. They come in a wide range of costs, but a simple pair will work just fine. |
